Vindicatrix Queensland is but one of many associations around the world perpetuating the "TS Vindicatrix" training ship at which over 70,000 (Vindi) boys were trained from 1939 to 1966 in the craft of seamanship and catering in the British Merchant Navy, then a prerequisite to joining. The school was run under very strict discipline and very harsh conditions in a canal cutting on the River Severn at Sharpness, an extremely bleak place during winter.

Vindicatrix Queensland was formed in 1996 to foster friendship and welfare amongst our ranks, much like a small social club and now has over 80 members and growing rapidly.

Meetings are held on the first Thursday of alternate months at various venues and 6 newsletters a year are produced to keep members (Vindi boys) up to date with any news and stories written by fellow members. Wives and partners are welcome to meetings making for some fun social occasions. Entertainment organised by our events committee include lunches, barbeques and outings throughout the year.

Fees, as set down at the AGM in June 2010, are currently $20.00 per annum. Full membership to the Vindicatrix Queensland can only be as ex-Vindi or staff, as is the format of the TS Vindicatrix Association UK.
